A short story

It's Friday, June 10th 2011; in a dusty field in Tennessee, The Decemberists take the stage. A girl stands alone surrounded by thousands, drinking in the music and dreaming up ways to be more involved than at her volunteer level. She looks up to her right at the sound booth and thinks: "I'll start there."

And so she did.

Pssst ...I am that girl!

Fast forward to 2013; with a diploma freshly tucked up under my belt, tá¾±rá¾± Sound & Productions was founded with the aim of building a reliable network of highly trained and consistent individuals offering audio engineering services to clients that value authenticity, expertise and quality.

In the years since, I have been working to deepen my own skills and widen my network.

My theory remains that quality work comes from the pairing of right person to right job.

If you agree and are looking for that person, or that job, get in touch!

I had the pleasure of teaching Victoria at the Trebas Institute and am honored to provide a
positive recommendation (...)

Victoria is an extremely smart and diligent person and her work intelligence and work ethic clearly distinguished her from her peers at Trebas. So much so that I felt the need to (...) offer her a letter of recommendation if she ever needed one.
In the ten years I have taught at Trebas I have rarely met a student of Victoria’s character,
intelligence and passion. I am very confident that she will become a very valued member of your team in a very short time.

Performing Artist, Belgium

Victoria and I worked together during two contracts on cruise ships, where she provided sound in the main theatre hall and where I was part of the onboard showband. As a performing artist it is of vital importance for me to fully trust and depend on the sound engineer up in the booth in order to give my best on stage. Unfortunately, quite often in given environment the overall level of competence, knowledge and most importantly, work drive is on the lower side. It is not until someone of Victoriaʼs level operates the sound that one can tell what it truly means to be a professional. Both onstage and in-house she was always on top of her game. For every issue, no matter its seriousness, she would present a solution in a heartbeat, or if it needed some more time or thinking, she would always cooperate and never leave you riddled or unattended. Like no other of her team (and of the people who succeeded her) she understood the necessary modus operandi of a live performance: the sound engineer works for the artist, not vice versa. ‘Of course you give the artist what he/she needsʼ, she would explain quite often. Therefore, she would always be held in high esteem by me and my fellow musicians, vocalists and artists of all types. With other words, work was easy with her. In addition to that, it must be said that as a female technician in a mainly male work environment she would stand her ground with vigour and unyieldingly, whenever she felt her job was being mistreated due to her gender. Such behaviour bears witness to her passion to the job, and in life in general. That, no matter what, is of highest importance to me and leads me to qualify her as one of the most professional sound engineers I've ever worked with.

I’ve had the pleasure of working with Ms. Wicks in a variety of performance situations during our tenure on the Norwegian Jade. Some situations were more optimal than others! One constant was her ability to quickly address and solve my audio issues, from a faulty headphone monitor to ensuring that six musicians with vastly differing opinions on what constitutes a balanced band sound were happy with the end result. Through all of that turmoil, Victoria maintained an upbeat, professional attitude.

I’ve been fortunate enough to play in some of the world’s premier venues, from Carnegie Hall and The Hollywood Bowl to the Sydney Opera House. They could use a sound tech of Victoria Wicks’ caliber. Her abilities and attitude would be most welcome!
